Job Responsibilities

As a development manager and/or project leader in development projects, you are a key player in planning and implementing the growing Gothenburg.

This involves everything from densifying existing residential areas to building entirely new areas with housing, commerce, and offices, along with the necessary infrastructure. You will participate as a development manager in larger projects and/or independently lead smaller development projects from the start of the project, in conjunction with the start of the detailed plan, until the project is built out and handed over to the city's management organization, the Urban Environment Administration. In the role of development manager, you will focus on the detailed planning work with responsibility for agreements, implementation, and land surveying issues. In the role of project leader, you will steer your projects towards set goals, budget, and timelines with a focus on economy and feasibility. In both roles, you will collaborate with other competencies within your own administration, such as land environment, land surveying, legal, valuation, traffic, parks, and design. You will also collaborate with developers and other administrations and companies in the city. Concrete tasks include the development of planning documents, development calculations, agreements, and timelines, participation in negotiations, and implementation meetings, as well as coordination of municipal and private actors throughout the process.

The development project also includes creating design proposals for public spaces and building out public spaces. Within the department, there are units where these competencies are gathered, and from which the work of planning and developing public spaces is initiated. You will have close cooperation with these units, as well as with the administration's project and business developers who support in earlier stages. We work in teams in close collaboration, where we share experiences and together develop the operations. In the urban development process, we all contribute to the team spirit and see great value in supporting and helping each other. We are convinced that we can achieve more if we use our shared knowledge effectively.

To develop the operations and collaboration, there is a continuous need for business development, both internally within the administration and in cooperation with other actors. Business development may thus be included in the job responsibilities.

Qualifications

We are looking for a driven project leader/development engineer who has several years of experience participating in planning and development projects, and a strong interest in working with urban development issues. Many of our employees have a background in land surveying, but as the technical coordination issues become increasingly complex in our urban development projects, we also welcome those with a more technical background.

It is an advantage if you have worked in or close to a politically governed organization, and previous experience in business development is seen as an asset/strengthens your profile. The role requires you to work independently and drive and lead the work/yourself and others towards set goals. It is important that you have good social skills, an unpretentious attitude, and a willingness to learn and think innovatively, while also sharing your experience. The position requires you to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish.

Every day throughout the year, the Development Administration plays a central role in Gothenburg's growth and development in new residential areas, parks, squares, road and tram lines, bridges, and tunnels, while also creating conditions for future housing and business as a landowner.
